Sleep Shift Scheduling Tool

Sleep loss and fatigue may lead to reduced performance and an increased risk to safety during many activities, including spaceflight. Your challenge is to develop an operational sleep shift scheduling tool that provides autonomous customization of a schedule for sleep, exercise, and nutrition to manage fatigue.

Luna :mobile application

Summary

A Space/Earth app with a simple yet unique UI/UX that uses phone and smart watch sensors to stage your sleep, wake you up and set your bed time. It regulates your naps. It collects optional researchable data on food, daily activity, travel, medication, and screen time with machine learning. It adjusts food and fitness to counteract the limitations of space and gives advises in a lack of natural light. It gives customised tips on sleeping and adjusts sleep to help you access your brain deeply.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Still getting those bad dreams? Pfft. Here’s how it’s done. Whether you're being hypnotised by deep space on the ISS, reclining your chair on a 747, or are just super tired after work, don’t worry. Luna’s got your back, your blanket, and your sleep mask. Luna stresses a holistic approach towards regulating mental acuity, sleep, and fitness. Luna stages sleep using a smart watch or your phone's accelerometer, or both, gently waking you up when your body's ready. Luna’s...a bit talkative. But it’s for your own good. More than 50% of you hit snooze when you wake up. Know why? You’re not waking up right. Scientifically, your dreams shouldn’t be interrupted when you wake up, especially not by some passive-aggressive melody birthed in the dark corners of the mind of some twisted musical genius. That alarm is LITERALLY making you dumber. Luna will wake you up the right way. You can set Luna to not take no for an answer either. Using our intelligent alarm, Luna will start off nicely, then get a bit more persuasive. To quieten things down, Luna makes you do a simple task to prove that you’re well and truly awake, and start your day fresh! Tell Luna about your fitness, sleep, travel, and food in a minimalistic UI, and she’ll craft the when, where, and how of your nights. Luna literally makes you smarter, while you sleep smarter.

Space is tricky. We know this. Sleep in space is tricky too. But it’s vital. ISS astronauts have an artificial lighting system...but they still can’t sleep. Some papers say that this just might be down to how microgravity affects the brain’s blood vessels. We might not know the exact cause, and that sucks, but Luna will help manage your symptoms as best as possible by providing proven military sleep techniques, tips, and routines. She’ll even play some tunes for you, or tell you to go do some cardio, or advise a piece of fruit or two to combat that pesky cosmic radiation. It might work, it might not, but that’s where your feedback comes in. With constant research going on into sleep techniques, we can help make life in space just a little more sustainable.

Now, down here on Earth, we can have a little more fun. If you’re flying to the Bahamas, just tell Luna 3 or more days before you go. You’ll just need to delay or hasten your bedtime accordingly. Luna can link up to your smart home appliances and help set lighting and temperature for you. Luna constantly collects anonymous user sleep data and even tests you when you wake up once in a while. After all, what’s the point of being open source if we can’t help advance science? The age-old adage has come to its end. Luna, you snooze, you win.

How We Developed This Project

Sleeping disorders is a huge topic that affects all the aspects of our life . We developed an app that can solve the problem of the unhealthy sleep duration and bad daily habits such as diets and experience. We used react native for the front end and develed a firebase backend. We were able to manage the data base .Sleeping disorders are a true threat to our nation . Luna will smartly guide you to better life.
