Sleep Shift Scheduling Tool

Sleep loss and fatigue may lead to reduced performance and an increased risk to safety during many activities, including spaceflight. Your challenge is to develop an operational sleep shift scheduling tool that provides autonomous customization of a schedule for sleep, exercise, and nutrition to manage fatigue.

Focus

Summary

The purpose of "Focus" is to help users improve their quality of life through a more structured organization of the activities carried out in their day-to-day life. This will be achieved with the tools provided by the app, with some expert advice and with motivation through challenges and rewards. In addition you will be able to monitorate the activities of an astronaute if you´re part of his/her family or part of the command center crew.

How We Addressed This Challenge

NOTE: All the data the app collect are phisical features of the user are only use to categorize him/her with the "random forest" algorithm. All the data will be protected and not share with any organization, institution or people.

How We Developed This Project

"Focus" is inspired by the fatigue generated by bad habits and how these lead us to make bad decisions in our day to day, our approach to the project tries to improve our mental and physical costumes to have a better sleep.

The app was made with App inventor (a code-block software), the simplicity of the programming helped us to make the application in this short period. Our main problem was the time limit to develop the product, that's why we create it with this minimalist software to create a prototype that even with a little detail is functional.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We used the data to help us understand the problem from the point of view of an astronaut, and with our own experience we have the point of view of a human living in the earth. We got some information mainly from NASA page, but also, we got some other data from AEM (Agencia Espacial Mexicana) and other organizations. We tried to gather the most information we can to have a more complete work, the NASA give us the data, and we based all the arguments supported by it.
