It is obvious to consider the ideal sleep schedule helps the human being to stay physically and mentally healthy. Good sleep includes sufficient sleep time as well as quality. Unfortunately, there is evidence that the sleep schedule in the case of astronauts is very weak and harmful to their health.
According to information from NASA, sleep deprivation and heart rate change dramatically during the flight into space. There are many cases where astronauts sleep for about six, seven hours, in the worst case, they only sleep two hours. When the ideal time is eight and a half hours.
Calling space insomnia when the astronauts saw a poor performance in the work of their missions as well as in the quality of sleep.
This is a great problem that has been tried to solve, but unfortunately the desired results have not been found. Not just to help astronauts but even people who can't sleep on Earth. So, we accept the challenge of creating a project to help people who need better health.
Our project is a way to improve the schedules of people who follow our system, such as astronauts, control tower workers, soldiers, etc.
The way our project fits into this challenge is that it is one hundred percent focused on sleep and how to take advantage of the time that is dedicated to sleep, in order to improve the average sleep so that the next day is more productive and effective.
We developed this project through brainstorming and thoroughly investigating the consequences of the short sleep time that people can suffer. Having the relevant data and information, we made diagrams and sketches of how our vision of the final product was, in order to work it through programming.
What moved us to put this project in motion was the serious data that we found regarding the hours of sleep that astronauts must deal with during their missions. With the focus of helping them and even people around the world who do not manage to have enough sleep time for their body. Since, sleep is very important for human health.
It should be noted that this tool will not only help a lot with the improvement of the sleep schedule, but even the productivity of the person by receiving the time necessary to complete their tasks throughout the day without feeling so tired.
The approach that we want to capture in our project is that it is effective and easy to use for anyone. That people can achieve excellent results and drastic changes for their health. Because of little sleep time, we experience anxiety, depression, lack of motivation, alterations in the immune system, increased medical visits and, in the worst cases, even death.
Due to these terrible consequences, we started to create this project, being easy for everyone to access.
The main software we used to make our product was Sublime Text 3, which is quite easy to use. For what is the code language we use W3Schools, CSS, html and JavaScript. Those were our tools that helped us throughout the development of the project.
The main problem we had was working remotely due to the situation in which we are subjected worldwide. Not having the opportunity to communicate in person was a great challenge for us. Another obstacle we faced was researching information, finding credible data, from reliable sources that would help us in the development of our html and give users an effective result.
Our achievements in this teamwork was to be able to create a tool that helps people around the world. We are very proud to be able to introduce you to this very honorable program. Since, we managed to complete a challenge that at the beginning we saw as something impossible, but thanks to teamwork and communication we ended it very satisfied. We take away knowledge of this great experience as well as being able to improve people's health.
The way in which we handle the information that we investigate, as well as the information that was given to us in the challenge, was mainly to correctly calculate the ideal sleep time for everyone who uses the project that we elaborated. Having exact information, as well as the different factors that influence the deterioration of the person's sleep, it is also very important to mention the ideal diet and the recommended exercise time for both terrestrial human beings and for astronauts in space.
We used several documents related to the health and performance of astronauts regarding how many hours they slept and analyzing the schedules of the International Space Station and how they worked. As well as the ideal products that may help the health of an astronaut in space, such as the right amount of food given.
