Sleep Shift Scheduling Tool

Sleep loss and fatigue may lead to reduced performance and an increased risk to safety during many activities, including spaceflight. Your challenge is to develop an operational sleep shift scheduling tool that provides autonomous customization of a schedule for sleep, exercise, and nutrition to manage fatigue.

Sleep Lab (A sleep tracking and prediction application)

Summary

Sleep Lab is an application that can track the astronauts sleeping hour and give prediction base on their informations (For example: your Weight, your meal, light, working hours, etc) . Those informations can be collect automatically thanks to the health sensor that the astronauts is wearing on their wist, and others base on what they provide. NOTE: the time-zone is set to Houston, USA, GMT-5

How We Addressed This Challenge
  • Link to the application: https://sleep-lab-demo.herokuapp.com
  • Our team develop a sleep tracking tool.
  • We did this project because of some reasons. Firstly, ISS fly around the Earth orbit 16 times a day, which mean there are dawn and sunset each 45 mins , so it will be very difficult for astronauts to sleep normally, causing many bad impacts to their health. The application is meant to collect data. Thereford, astronauts can tracking their sleep, balance their working life in space, which is really important for a 6 months mission.
  • This application collect datas from the health devices the user wear on their wist, and from their meal, exercise hour, working hours, health status,... By that generate graphs display your sleeping hour, exercises, etc. And give prediction as well as notice when you don't sleep enough or find out if you currently having any health problem
  • We hoping to give user a more balance life as well as can predict some dangerous sick that the user don't know
  • In the future if our team have more time, we hope that we can build more features to this application, an also make a wider range of user beside astronauts. This Sleep Lab can appoarch to people all around the world.
How We Developed This Project
  • This project was developed in many ways. We were inspired by our curiosity of how people sleep in space as well as what factor affect sleep, by that we can understand more about our behaviour, body.
  • Tools that we use: Adobe Photoshop, Vanilla Javascript
  • Coding language: Javascript
  • Problem: lack of realistic data, lack of time so we can not build every feature yet, only 2 people in our team so that we have to left some part "undone", if we have more time, we can finish this.
  • Achievement: gain more knowledge, team working under pressure
How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project
  • By those data in the resource section, we can build graph of sleeping-waking time.
  • Know about factors that affect human's sleep

We made another simulation about Segment Artificial Gravity Environment at space, this is not relate to our project but it is interesting, link to the simulation video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rguw_GWEQL4
