Sleep Shift Scheduling Tool

Sleep loss and fatigue may lead to reduced performance and an increased risk to safety during many activities, including spaceflight. Your challenge is to develop an operational sleep shift scheduling tool that provides autonomous customization of a schedule for sleep, exercise, and nutrition to manage fatigue.

SpaceDream

Summary

Tracking your exercise routine, meals, sleep routine, or any other task shouldn’t be hard!. Everyone wants to track daily tasks but cannot find an easy way to do it, for this reason we developed SpaceDream. SpaceDream aims to track and keep your performance high, by applying Aritificial Intelligence / Deep Learning,Big Data and Natural Language Processing , mixed with an user-friendly interface, we can all track our events easely.

How We Addressed This Challenge

What is SpaceDream?

SpaceDream is a Progressive Web App that solves the different problems when scheduling various tasks, whether related to Sleep, Food, Exercise or others. The application is designed to be scalable worldwide, so it not only has astronauts as its target audience but also people who wish to use it for the most different purposes.

SpaceDream uses Natural Language Processing to help different users with the various problems that may arise while using the application. The app has a Chatbot capable of interacting with the user through text and voice recognition.

Chatbot:

On the other hand, it also uses Artifical Intelligence / Deep Learning and Big Data to suggest different actions or events through the data. For example, given the history of foods that were eaten, the AI is able to give suggestions for related dishes / recipes. Another suggestion can be given based on the sleep routine, if the AI identifies that the user is sleeping little and at the same time is not ingesting the same amount of calories as usual, the AI suggests not only a plate but also that it rest a few hours to more to return to its best state.

AI Sugestion:

Here we can see the scheduling interface in which patterns are used that make it easier to use.

Calendar/Scheduler interface:

It is important to note that the application handles both the registration and login of users as well as their sessions.

Charts:

According to the information obtained from the different events (both past and future events), the application uses Data Science to deliver reports and graphs that are very useful for the user in order to keep its performance at the top.

How We Developed This Project

The team was motivated to solve this problem since all the participants in it have already tried to maintain control over different activities at the same time but always without success.

Approach

First, we thought of unifying the three areas (Sleep, Exercise and Food) indicated in the letter of the challenge.

After this we think about making it scalable at a global level so that any user can benefit from the customized use that can be given to it.

Then we carry out a Brainstorming to add a greater degree of innovation to the idea since we consider that all the participating teams would be able to unify the areas and generate a basic scheduling application.

Different ideas emerged from this using AI / DL, Big Data, NLP, Data Science and also Machine Learning.

Then we did another wave of Brainstorming again and managed to come up with the currently presented idea.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We have used the API related to the location of the ISS to manage different time zones within the App.
