Sleep Shift Scheduling Tool

Sleep loss and fatigue may lead to reduced performance and an increased risk to safety during many activities, including spaceflight. Your challenge is to develop an operational sleep shift scheduling tool that provides autonomous customization of a schedule for sleep, exercise, and nutrition to manage fatigue.

Inzzzomnia

Summary

The circadian rythm helps our bodies maintain a healthy sleep-wake schedule and so keeping it in check is important to stay mentally and physically healthy. Besides there are several problems that might lead to a circadian desinchronyzation and unfortunately astronauts are the ones who suffer the most from this problem which affects their health and mission as well that's why we built Inzzzomnia an app the helps you maintain your circadian rythm and so the three important aspects that affects it (Sleep, Nutrition and Exersice).

How I Addressed This Challenge

What did we develop?

Inzzzomnia isan app that assists astronauts through their journey to space by improving their sleep cycle , food habits as well as exersice guidelines in purpose of acheiving their missions successfully.

Why is it important?

Inzzzomnia is important for astronauts as well as for simple workers, it helps them lead a better life by improving their circadian rythm owing to the fact that it allows them sleep serenly, stay in a good shape thanks to different exersices and provides them with nutritional data about their meals.

Why does it do? / How does it work?

If you ever want to know more about what you're eating or drinking, Inzzzomnia provides you all the information you need about your food by simply searching its name and get nutritional data, Or if you can't accomplish your work because of loss of sleep, Inzzomnia also helps you sleep peacefully by suggesting some solutions to whatever sleep troubles you might have, Also exersice is critical to stay physically healthy especially for astronauts in microgravity, Inzzzomnia offers different solutions for that such as videos ,advice....etc.

What do you hope to acheive?

By building this app we hope to improve astronaut's lives and their physical/mental health at space so they can fully accomplish their work and succeeed their missions because what astronauts are achieving is important for the whole humanity and every discovery they make is a step further toward a better future.

How I Developed This Project

What inspired your team to choose this challenge?

We believe that maintaining our circadian rythm and keeping it in check regularly is very important wether in our social life with family and friends or the professional life at work and so a circadian desinchronyzation could possibly lead to imbalance and unhealthy life.

What was your approach of developing this project?

The development of this project went through three phases:

First we set the app goal and its features then we designed the wireframes and lastly we started developing it.

What tools, coding languages, hardware, software did you use to develop your project?

During developing our app we went through several phases as mentioned above . We first designed our screans using Figma a free UI Design/Prototype tool then we began developing our app using html css and javascript as well as Bulma a css framework.

While working on our searchbar we made use of Edamam api to get the required food datas to our app.

What problems and achievements did your team have?

Since i worked alone i have faced few challenges like time handling and learning about new technologies.

How I Used Space Agency Data in This Project

How did you use space agency datas in your project?

When we first picked the challenge we didn't know much about it but after reading the resources provided by NASA and it's partners https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/research/astronauts_improve_sleep & https://www.nasa.gov/feature/ames/nasa-research-reveals-biological-clock-misalignment-effects-on-sleep-for-astronauts we learned more about circadian rythm , its importance and how it affects astronauts health also the bootcamp's virtual video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH2hL5Ua_m8 helped us understand more the challenge and all the necessary features to build.
