Sleep Shift Scheduling Tool

Sleep loss and fatigue may lead to reduced performance and an increased risk to safety during many activities, including spaceflight. Your challenge is to develop an operational sleep shift scheduling tool that provides autonomous customization of a schedule for sleep, exercise, and nutrition to manage fatigue.

Snooze

Summary

Our submission for the space apps challenge is a sleep scheduling tool that allowsastronauts, pilots, and flight attendants to set alarms for sleep, exercise, andother activities that benefit the user and improve their circadian rythm. The appwill notify the user on how much sleep that they have left for the day in order forthem to reduce the risk of fatigue and encourages them to follow the schedule preparedby the user.

How We Addressed This Challenge

What we developed is a sleep scheduling tool that allows astronauts, pilots, and flight attendants that addresses their issues with fatigue. The application is designed to encourage sleep, exercise, and meal times to the user by notifying them. The user has the liberty to input their entries in the application through a schedule feature that they can modify. This notifies them whenever they need to eat, sleep, exercise, or do work.

How We Developed This Project

What inspired us to take up the challenge is the fact that we are still college students. We have had many nights where we lacked sleep in order to keep up with the demands of our professors, so we are no strangers to sleep depravation. We developed the concept interface using figma, and we developed the code through JavaScript, using the ReactNative framework. The problems that the team faced included the difficulty curve of the challenge. We are still novices when it comes to the programming language that was used. The achievement was that we were able to make progress nonetheless.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We used the resources that were provided in the bootcamp as reference.
