The International Space Apps Challenge is a two-day hackathon where teams of technologists, scientists, designers, artists, educators, entrepreneurs, developers and students across the globe collaborate and engage with publicly available data to design innovative solutions for global challenges. During the event, participants will organize into projects focused on solving a specific challenge.

Hackathon”, also adopted in Greece, is by definition of the words “hack” and “marathon.” A “hack” is a solution to an existing problem that is developed by intense innovative teamwork in a short amount of time, also known as “hacking.” A hackathon is therefore a race to solve challenges against time.

Ο όρος «Hackathon» που έχουμε υιοθετήσει και στα ελληνικά, προέχεται από τις λέξεις hack, δηλαδή αξίνα και marathon, μαραθώνιος. Το hackathon είναι δηλαδή ένας μαραθώνιος 2 ημερών για να βρεθεί μια λύση σε λίγο χρόνο!
