Awards & Nominations

ATOM Z has received the following awards and nominations. Way to go!

Global Finalist

Virtual Planetary Exploration

Your challenge is to create interactive 3D models of equipment (e.g., planetary geology tools) that future space explorers can use for activities like exploring a planetary surface.

Z-Attachment

Summary

On the 30.08.2018, on ISS was reported a damaged module struck by a screw, which was previously undone by an ISS crew. Therefore we ATOM Z developed an automated solution that is viable, effective and fast, when taking in consideration the previous designs. The Z-Attachment is a user friendly tool that can be easily attached to the already existing Pistol Grip Tool. It is constructed to work as a complex mechanism which is able to fasten & unfasten multiple screws at the same time without the need of picking them up with the bulky gloves that are used by the crew of ISS.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We, ATOM Z developed an automated solution that is viable, effective and fast, when taking in consideration the previous designs. We hope to achieve a development of a tool that is fully automated by an AI Software.

How We Developed This Project

We decided to participate on this challenge due to problem not provided by a practical solution. The team started by researching the material given for the challenged and afterwards creating a 3D interactive model with animation of the the functionality and uploaded GLTF models on a web page.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

The problem solution provided by Nasa was poorly designed and has a large scale of failure in the future. Therefore it inspired us to develop an easy and automated solution with very small scale of error.
