Global Nominee

Virtual Planetary Exploration

Your challenge is to create interactive 3D models of equipment (e.g., planetary geology tools) that future space explorers can use for activities like exploring a planetary surface.

GEMJCC Space Exploration

Summary

Our project aims to create the ideal tool kit for planetary expeditions to the moon and other planets. Our target is to make geological tools which will help astronauts and scientists with taking soil samples and examining them. We provide tools such as hammer and pickaxe in order for the astronauts to brake and split the rocks in order to take their sample in a specific size and weight. The astronauts can take samples from soil and rocks and the scientists can use them to figure out important facts about space like if there is life anywhere outσιδε of the earth.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We developed tools which serve geological and scientific purposes with the aim to collect soil samples from the moon and other planets. These purposes are very important because they will help to discover if there is any water and thus any life outside of the earth. The tools help to brake and split rocks and collect soil. The tool kit works with basic tools which are easy in use and they are specifically designed for space expeditions. We hope to achieve a complete knowledge of the soil structure in a lot of planets including Mars and Moon.

How We Developed This Project

We were inspired to choose this challenge because we have a lot of imagination and we wanted to present you our prototype ideas in design combined with our interest in space. We used fusion 360 by Autodesk because is a nice software that can be used to make 3D models. We faced a lot of problems using fusion and creating the website but finally we manage to achieve nice tools we nice descriptions.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We used data mainly from Apollo kit and we based our tools on that. We also used data from Wikipedia.
