Earth Location Refinement Tool (ELRT)
Summary
Our Project aims to use Nasa's data to help refine locations for specific purposes based on specific conditions. For example, Finding where to grow certain crops the metrics might be; Temperature, nitrogen deposition and cloud coverage. This software's purpose is to be given a weighted importance and an ideal value for each and from that, determine the best possible locations. It will then return a global heatmap of these locations.
How We Addressed This Challenge
The project directly addresses the challenge by providing a tool that takes daunting numerical data and converts it into intuitive visual data that is easy to read. it also helps cross analysis of different sets of data and a simpler way to effectively transpose two sets of data.
How We Developed This Project
Our team worked remotely and it was a challenging experience. We decided early that this problem was purely a software problem in accordance to our skill sets and resources and we designed our solution accordingly. This was ultimately a learning experience for our team and we were able to familiarise ourselves with python architectures such as flask that we weren't familiar with prior to the Hackathon.
How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project
Our project is an analysis and visualisation tool that takes Nasa's data and provides a more readable and accessible mode of interpretation.
