Home Planet at Your Fingertips

Develop a user-friendly application or tool to discover, visualize, and analyze NASA Earth data for monitoring our home planet.

EYES ON EARTH - A cluster of AI based apps to track all major NASA Earth data.

Summary

Project is all about to access major Earth Data in simplest form, so that users may fetch all these information in just few clicks. Scope of project is to track Earth's Environmental Data, Climate, Weather, Oceanography, tracking the disasters like Typhoon, Cyclone, Hurricanes. It's a cluster of apps based on NASA Earth data synced in by using API in order to derive real time results.Project is synced with various API's related to Satellite data i.e MODIS, TERRA, HURSAT, GOES, NOAA, SUOMI etc.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Thought of "Taking Action" towards saving our planet earth by creation of some user friendly apps which may create awareness amongst people to know more about the planet and at the same time to take pledge and act like a Savior of our mother planet Earth. Knowing is half the battle, hence relevant information will help us to inculcate the culture of nurturing our planet by various means.

We have developed few AI based tools capable of fetching the NASA earth data in real time in simplest form. It is very important for all of us to know more about our planet earth so that people may understand and refrain all such activities those are potential hazards to our Earth. Tools are developed to understand the climatic conditions of Earth, Air quality, Increasing temperatures leading to Global warming and disturbing the balance of Life on Earth.

We hope that, would be able to draw the attention of people towards saving the Earth by providing them real time data with regards to our climate and alerts to avoid potential disasters.

How We Developed This Project

Observation is the very first step before taking any action, hence thought of monitoring the earth from the eyes of various satellites those who are orbiting the earth and collecting the vital data. We accepted the challenge to process all these environmental data in real time. We have developed these tools on ARCGIS Platform supported by ESRI. Apps stated in project are also being nominated for Living Atlas of the world by ESRI, but not published yet.

We processed the KML data for plotting the same on global map in various aspects like AQI, Global temperature, Sea Temperature, Hurricane Location, ARGO Floats location etc.

Through feature layers, we tried interfacing the vital stats of the particular project in real time and compiled all the relevant information in form of Desktop Dashboard.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

Projects brief and used Resources:

1) ARGO Floats: Argo is a global network of free-drifting robots that measure temperature and salinity of the upper 2000 m of the ocean. This allows, for the first time, continuous monitoring of the temperature, salinity, and velocity of the upper ocean, with all data being sent to satellites passing overhead and then made publicly available within hours after collection.

2) Air Quality Index: The PM 2.5 data in this map is aggregated from NASA Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC) gridded data into country boundaries, administrative 1 boundaries, and 50 km hex bins. The unit of measurement for PM 2.5 concentrations is micrograms per cubic meter.

3) Hurricane Hunter: This data is provided by NOAA National Hurricane Center (NHC) for the Central+East Pacific and Atlantic, and the Joint Typhoon Warning Center for the West+Central Pacific and Indian basins. For more disaster-related live feeds visit the Disaster Web Maps & Feeds ArcGIS Online Group. See Sample Layer Item for sample data during inactive Hurricane Season!

4) Weather Forecast and Ocean Current: The Current Weather and Wind Station Data layer is created from hourly METAR station data provided from NOAA and contains approximately 11 wea Major wind driven ocean currents of the world. Currents are color coded to indicate warm and cold currents.

Aforesaid projects are synced in realtime with the NASA, JAXA resources resulting into a dynamic dashboard to analyze the Earth data on your finger tips.

These dashboards populate the data based on user inputs as per the selection of any specific country, city etc. These live data resources helped into conversion of our dashboards into a live gateway to analyze Earth data and may create awareness into people. That's our motto.
