GPS Forecast For More Precise Position Data

Summary

Our app provides people to GPS satellites locations, weather conditions and electromagnetic pollution values. Thereby civilian aviators who practices UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) can use this app to choose when and where to flight to make sure GPS services provides more precise data. Thus the chance of the air-craft malfunction and crush.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Our projects aims for helping civilian UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) users and producers. One of the biggest problems that civilian aviators encounter is the errors that caused by blockage, insufficient and tolerances of GPS singals. To fullfil this goal we first analyzed how GPS systems cause errors. The main problem is the principle of error in measuring. The principle of error in measuring predicts there isn't any measuring that identicaly matches with reality. That means every measuring has a toleracens. To make measurings more precise, we need to measure as many as different angles. Even though electromagnetic pollution and weather conditions prevents some singals to reach reciever, GPS systems still grants more precision with every extra satellite. Our goal is making a application that shows how many GPS satellite can reach a spesific area in a spesific time. Delivering this knowledge with weather forecast and electromagnetic pollution data of that area can make users experience worthier and safer for both user and vechile.

How We Developed This Project

Two weeks ago we participated in Teknofest UAV compitation. There was a problem that we faced and we couldn't find a effective solution. Problem was the GPS systems insuffiency caused by weather, electromagnetic pollution. This effects caused our air-craft to miss the target area and release the payload before arriving to point. So we wanted to solve this problem by making a app that informs the user. This app provides data like how many satellites can transmit to a area and how much electromagnetic pollution this area has. Our goal is making a program that help people to decide when or where to take flight with their unmanned aerial vechiles.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

Our project uses the data of GPS and NAVSTAR satellites locations for forecast how many satellite can reach a point. But we couldn't finish the function that allows us to combine satellite data, weather data and electromagnetic polution values of area. Our present function can find how many satellites signal can reach that spesific position at spesific time. We get this data from NASA.

Data & Resources

We tryed to combine our program with the weather data. Because of complextiy of data and complexity of subject, we couldn't combine this data to our program. There is the maps that we tryed to add.
