Home Planet at Your Fingertips

Develop a user-friendly application or tool to discover, visualize, and analyze NASA Earth data for monitoring our home planet.

Giovanni+

Summary

Our chosen theme was "Home Planet at Your Fingerstips", It was then that after the choice we found a difficulty for people who are researchers, they have the need to use complex platforms that are not friendly and before that we find Giovanni, a platform for researchers, which brings data from several domains linked to NASA. Our solution was to understand how Giovanni works and that's when we created Giovanni +. We tested qualitatively how researchers used the Giovanni platform and based on these surveys, we identified the flaws and points for improvement. We took the generated data and created a friendly, functional interface and validated our idea with several researchers.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We developed an MVP prototype of a website with all the information present on NASA's Giovanni website, which contains several scientific data for researchers. However with a much more friendly and easy to use interface. It is extremely important for this audience of scientific researchers, as it leaves all access to this data, accurate and reliable from NASA, in a much more accessible and attractive way. Provides the data present on the Giovanni website with a much more user-friendly interface. Filters and processes scientific information and data from NASA, and it is also possible to plot graphs. A better user experience when searching for data and scientific information

How We Developed This Project

After analyzing all the themes, we noticed a common desire of the team, to develop something real and for people in order to solve the problem. We used figma as our main tool to design our prototype. In Miro to targeting as an information board. Discord as a communication tool. Problems we had were more at the time of validating the problem and with the organization of the prototype search tool. And the main success of the team, was in the validations, where we started to show to several mentors and some even researchers and we only received praise for how the idea was developed.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

Our project was made and planned based on all the NASA data from Giovanni website
