It is a mobile and also a web application, in which NASA Earth data will be displayed in a much more intuitive and easy way for use by both a scientist and an enthusiast in the field.
On the home screen there are the first filters for the user to choose the data they need to see:
When selecting one of the options, a drop-down menu opens with the most specific options on the topic.
For example, when clicking on Air Quality, the following drop-down menu opens, with all the ones referring to the main theme:
When selecting one of the topics, it will be possible to select more specific information, such as from which satellite the user wants the information:
After this choice, a screen appears with the ways of presenting the data: (in this part, I thought of appearing several small screens / images of each type of presentation to make the user's choice very intuitive)
In another tab "Social / Save the World", it will be possible to see how this theme affects the person, in their daily lives and what actions they can take (small actions) to change this reality. (objectively and can be more playful - use our “mascot” / astronaut helmet icon as if you were talking to the user)
We chose this theme because of the importance of disseminating all the knowledge collected over the years and made available by NASA and other partner institutions, which most people do not know or are unable to use correctly. Our approach is to simplify the use of the tools and concentrate them in one application, making their use simpler.
For the implementation of the solution we will use the Javascript programming language, together with the React.js frameworks for Web application, React-Native for mobile development and the Node.js environment for the development of the application backend. We chose these technologies because they all use Javascript, which facilitates development, code reuse, stable package manager and a very large and active community.
For the operation of our application we will collect information from the NASA Earth, GIBS API, NASA Giovanni, Wordwindjs and also Euro Data Clube databases, through web scraping or API calls.
