SustainAZ
Summary
Our continuous failure in advancing in the topic of sustainability makes us question the root problem: Education.We are creating SustainAZ, a web application, where users have the ability to share short videos (max 60) to share their knowledge related to sustainability.The main motivation behind SustainAZ is that people frequently get bored by scrolling through long videos, complex articles, and often do not know how to start educating themselves.Our goal is to create and connect people from different cultures, and who want to be involved in sustaining the planet: we want an addicting community that pushes us to become better through simple daily actions.
How We Addressed This Challenge
SustainAZ is addressing the lack of sustainability measures in the world. The harsh truth is that most of our efforts will inevitably fail if people are uneducated. Therefore, by creating a community using this web application, we would be able to spread awareness of the critical state on planet Earth and providing solutions through posting fun and informative videos with a proactive community. With our communication plan (presentation), we hope to reach daily change in the users lives. We also rely on the competitive side (Challenges and Ratings) of the app to make the experience more entertaining.
How We Developed This Project
What inspired us is the lack of education and carefulness towards sustainability among people. Education is often neglected and assumed while working on sustainability projects. Therefore, we came up with the idea of creating a social media app to bring new cultures, and share their knowledge and awareness though short videos. Our smart recommendation system is also a good push for people who are lost and do not know how to start learning and contributing to the community.
We divided our tasks depending on our expertise.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project
People can contribute to the NASA articles challenges located on the right sidebar of the home page by making a video and sharing their acquired knowledge. Depending on the quality of their video, their profile rating increases. We also plan on linking any potential challenges that might interest the user such as Space Apps challenge.
We will also use the data to eventually create a recommendation system, where depending on the likes and follows, the users will be provided will the best articles accordingly. Eventually, when users watch a specific video linked to a specific article, they can click the "read more" button where they will be directed to the linked article.
The remaining data in the website remains as a user contribution.
