Sustaining Our Planet for Future Generations

There is concern worldwide that environmental issues we face today will have an impact on future generations. Your challenge is to create a way to communicate the importance of environmental responsibility to people of all ages.

Biodegradability

Summary

Plastic is harmful to all creatures and it never goes away. It is a material made to last forever, such as water bottles, bags, and straws. They are used just once and thrown away. Plastic can’t biodegrade; it breaks down into smaller and smaller pieces. As not many people are aware of the negative consequences of the improper disposal of plastic, so our idea is to guide people and warn them of the dangerous effects of the plastic on them, the wildlife, and the marine life, by placing a simple, creative, and purposeful logo or a design on some of the most used plastic products.

How We Addressed This Challenge

We thought about a way to guide people and deliver this message to them “the dangerous effects of the plastic on them, the wildlife and the marine life”. And this will be by placing a simple logo on the most used plastic products with a short sentence below it like “There’s no planet B” and “Imagine yourself in their place” to explain the idea of the logo. Hence, it will be widely spread among people because all these things are their daily use.

It’s important as not many people aware of its dark sides and the poor management of plastic waste in many countries which don't know the negative effects of it. As it causes huge pollution, that affects the environment and all living creatures. And the first step to achieve our purpose is communicating with companies and factories that use plastic in their products, to deliver our idea to them and work on it. Thus, we hope to reach the largest number of people that we are capable for, until awareness reaches them, that this project will change something noticeable in society, and that people understand the danger of this problem on the planet over the coming years.

How We Developed This Project

Every day, our usage of plastic increases, which exposes the environment and humanity to more pollution. But there are some humans, who still have enough awareness about this pollution.

As, some volunteers removed 2 tons of garbage and plastic from the Jewish island in Hurghada, and a tourist, removed more than 30 plastic bags stuck in the coral reefs of the Red Sea; and there are a lot of human situations like this That inspired us. So we decided to turn the speech about awareness to our actual life and the awareness being in our hands every day and offer to everyone as our purpose is spreading awareness among people.

One of the means that will help in the implementation of our project, is the presence of a large number of garbage boxes that are intended for plastic products only. That is will assist people in contributing to the preservation of the environment.

We were able to access contact information about factories and companies that use plastic in their products or manufactures it that could help us,

But the challenge for us is how to convince them of that.

But we have a way to convince them by explaining the gains that will accrue to them after that, as many people turn to companies that are more concerned with the environment, and looking for ways to preserve our environment.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

At first, it made us notice the plastic pollution by showing the amount of plastic, which is found in oceans and seas and effects on marine life. So, we decided to search for more about this challenge, which is facing our nature.

Besides, it was so helpful, especially it is trusted sources. which made us sure about our research.
