Sustainable Food waste Management- A new revolution

Summary

An initiative to create a sustainable leap for the society.Our objective is to develop a cost effective model for food waste management and bio-nutrient recycling and to create awareness in the society. For this work, we have taken Silchar town, in India as our initial case study and proposed a food waste management model for organic and inorganic recycling of food waste. The food waste accumulated in the households will be updated using mobile app. Then the segregated organic waste will be de-packed and then the bio-nutrients will be separated for consumption as nutraceuticals or supplements. Also, a collaboration has been done with a NGO to initiate awareness to feed the poor people.

How We Addressed This Challenge

Food scarcity is a global crisis. We have chosen this project to initiate awareness among the commoners at the ground level. Through modern technology, we can manage food waste and mitigate with the hunger index.

How We Developed This Project

Food sustainability is the most important concern of the society. If we have food to eat, then only we can opt for other comforts. Since, India's Global Hunger Index is alarming, new methods must be undertaken to recycle food and serve the poor. We gathered data, analyzed them, and then started working on our model. Yes, we have faced problems due to the current pandemic situation, but it has motivated us more. We are thankful to the NGO, they have helped us whole-heartedly. Also, we would like to mention that our team spirit and effort helped us to compete in this challenge.
