Sustaining Our Planet for Future Generations

There is concern worldwide that environmental issues we face today will have an impact on future generations. Your challenge is to create a way to communicate the importance of environmental responsibility to people of all ages.

Climate Plants

Summary

Many events happen on our planet that can affect the climate and the soil. It is important to keep people informed of these changes, avoiding a greater catastrophe. We make people self-sustaining with home gardens, promoting the exchange of plants and / or vegetables. This will help the new generations to stay informed and obtain a future full of plants.Climate Plants is a responsive web application that arises as a proposal to control the climate and soil of the plants. By just choosing a region and specific location, it is possible to know the type of plants and/or vegetables that can be grown in a certain climate (data obtained from NASA) that is shown in that location, as well as the co

How We Addressed This Challenge

Upon entering the system, it will be possible to see a map where your certain location will be chosen. Then, the plants that can be grown in your location will be displayed, organized according to the weather (data obtained from NASA through API files), on a date determined that can be historical or current. Likewise, for each plant exhibited, you can access the detail of each one, where the way in which it can be grown is shown, through a brief explanation in text and images

How We Developed This Project

The project was inspired by the influence of the climate on the planet. To carry out the challenge, why not making the meteorological conditions be in our favor. People will know where and when to grow the plants in this way, avoiding soils with high temperatures. With the help of this project, people will have at hand the information about the plant and its types of soil, valuing the user experience and the way they care for their crops.

It is known that the climate as a meteorological condition, directly affects the soil by changing the living conditions of the plants, they are exposed to sudden changes in some regions of the planet, causing the reaction to wither.

The project was developed under the Django framework, with the Model-view-template schema, the Mysql database. NASA data is used via API files.

We are looking for new ways to consume the data provided by NASA, and current methods on how to implement it in our project. With latitude and longitude options, we can observe the climate of many regions.

We investigate a large amount of data on plants and vegetables in the region with their types of soils and adequate temperatures, so that they can grow correctly to do tests in the prototype.

How We Used Space Agency Data in This Project

We use data from NASA and we implement it in our project in the form of a meteorological API, that just by making inquiries about the information will be able to show updated graphs about the climate. With this, we can recommend information from the current plants for that environment.
