Sustaining Our Planet for Future Generations

There is concern worldwide that environmental issues we face today will have an impact on future generations. Your challenge is to create a way to communicate the importance of environmental responsibility to people of all ages.

Producing Oxygen In Space

Summary

We searched for microalgae and looked for ways to produce oxygen using these creatures in space. We have designed the microalgae panels considering that these miraculous creatures can be a solution to the oxygen problem in the space. Among the panels to be formed as tent, microalgae, which are located in a certain storage area by spiral pipes, are pumped into the system with the help of water pump. * Through the path between the durable plastic material, this flow is made continuous by a closed system recirculation. With this method, we control the water in space environment and provide the necessary environment for our microalgae.

How We Addressed This Challenge

As a result of our research, we found that being a consuming source of oxygen in space is one of the biggest problems. It is a big problem that the ones that are used to replace oxygen are lost now. The ability to produce oxygen in space is a big step for future. In addition, astronauts can do more long-term tasks, this project continues to produce oxygen in space.

How We Developed This Project

In space problems, we preferred Producing Oxygen In Space.

We have worked on this project in order to produce oxygen in the space environment, to be a big step towards the future of space exploration and to produce oxygen in space in order to enable the astronauts to perform longer term tasks in the future.

We used a pipe system for our microalgae panels.

In the panels we designed in the form of tents, our aim was to get more sunlight.

The pipe system we use is one-piece, and the interruption of the pipe system goes in and out again. We tried to give the shape of durable plastic material which we will use in our project by using nylon. We transferred our microalgae culture to a reservoir. We pumped the migroallics with the submersible pump.

At the other end of the pipe re-enters the system. In this way, we have obtained a continuous circulation.

However because of gravity water and oxygen didn't separate from each other . Thanks to our membrane system, we managed to get the oxygen to the surface.

As a result we managed to get oxygen from microalgae.
