What did you develop?
The idea of development of this project came from the approval of a dam construction in one of our states by destroying a hotspot. The project got extended to the whole of the country. We coded and added an extra feature to our website in which people all round the country can find it useful.
Why is it important?
It is important to make people realize the value of trees as well as all make them understand what they are losing by destroying them. It just converts their values to a number which is accepted as the most valuable commodity in the country i.e. money.
How does it work?
The person has to log in into the website and go to the tree monetization tab. Click on the sign a petition. The next form would ask for the state and the number of trees that are going to be cut in the area. This would as a result give the value of the given number of trees and there would be a option by which you would be able to share them in the social media of signing the petition as a result that would include more public in the protest.
What do you hope to achieve?
We hope to save as much trees as we can by this facility. We hope to make people aware about the value of tree as well as to protect them and nurture them.
What inspired your team to choose this challenge?
The most important approach what a world needs now is a sustainable approach. Even though technological and medical advancements are progressing at a higher rate but the global pandemic with different global destructions has awakened us with the example that nothing is superior to nature. Sustainable living is the only one which would save the environment as well as the inhabitants in it and as a result would help in maintaining a proper food web.
In our populous country like India people are not so well educated about the consequences of deforestation as they are about money. So, we by this project would be able to make all the masses in our country know how much money they are losing by cutting a tree. This is a move towards saving a tree in our country.
What was your approach to developing this project?
The motive of the project was clear from the beginning. We focused most of our time on collecting genuine data from legitimate websites. The collected data were properly processed and put into our project making it what is it.
What tools, coding languages, hardware, software did you use to develop your project?
Most part of it was done by Microsoft Excel and Google sheets (when we needed a group editing).
What problems and achievements did you team have?
Problems:
•Collection of data
•Finding legitimate sites
Achievements
•Got to know about all the major trees of our country.
•Realized how much a tree value is.
•Through this project we can everyone understand the value of tree.
