Air pollution is a burning issue in the present world. Various air borne diseases are spreading faster causing global pandemic and serious health issues. The level of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane, and other harmful and greenhouse gases are rapidly increasing causing health hazards, biodiversity hazards, ozone layer depletion and global warming.
The problematic particles, called fine particulate matter (PM2.5), are 2.5 micrometres or less in diameter, about a tenth the fraction of human hair. These small particles can get past the body’s normal defences and penetrate deep into the lungs.

The map, which shows the average PM2.5 results between 2001 and 2006.The map shows very high levels of PM2.5 in a broad swath stretching from the Saharan Desert in Northern Africa to Eastern Asia. When compared with maps of population density, it suggests more than 80 percent of the world's population breathe polluted air that exceeds the World Health Organization's recommended level of 10 micrograms per cubic meter.
The chart shows the increasing level of CO2 . In the past 13 years, the concentration of CO2 has increased from 380ppm to 414ppm.
Also the Global temperature has increased by about 2 degree Fahrenheit in the past 170 years.
What we developed
We developed a plan for a game. The basic principle is that this game is played by all age group. While younger generations play this game for entertainment purposes but actually it allows us to convey the idea of how sustainability works and its impact on the grass-root level. The older generation is targeted as an individual who has a vague idea of this but is not provided with a tool.
What it does
This game allows the older generation to have a concrete idea about the impacts which are caused due to their inaction. The gameplay in this app conjunctly implead and encourages people of all level to maintain the collective approach to solve the issues while sustaining the environment. A group of community or village or city has to live for a period of time while sustaining. For those different tasks has to be completed .for example :to plant a tree increases your chance of being alive .The more people there are alive at the end of the day also while the minimum environment is used .
How it works
The game closely incorporates the real-world data and the real-time time which ultimately makes the game play environment.
The level of the game will be categorized as the level of air pollution. More the pollution in a certain area, harder the level for users. To complete the level, users have to control the air pollution by identifying the sources of air pollution and take actions against it. The users will have to plant trees, control forest fires, install air filters to filter smoke in the industries and vehicles, etc. And once the pollution level is controlled or falls under the safe level, the user passes the level and can move to the next level choosing different cities or places. When the pollution level is high in a certain area, the players will get different health level problems.

-To convey the idea that sustainable environment can be achieved with a little effort and fun way.
-To plant an idea and make the world little better than we found it.
Our major source of motivation is the little happiness that we get to see from the youngsters and we as an intelligent species of the planet earth should not forget to sustain our environment for the upcoming generation. They also deserve same kind of environment and the future that we had. So the present generation should take the responsibility for sustaining as well as passing the knowledge and showing the environmental awareness to the young generation.
We are a group of STEAM enthusiasts and the solution that we provided in the form of Game may not be a complete solution to the problem but taking a small step has always been a great leap for mankind . We have always wanted to make a positive impact in society. We wanted to solve the global problems and found out that the game is the best way to communicate to the people of all age groups. It is the age of data science and technology and more than 44.8% people have access to smartphones. The flow of information is the way of communication and communication is the key to solution. We will be communicating directly or indirectly with people through the game spreading and raising knowledge and awareness of harmful effects of air pollution.
The sources we used for this project is entirely NASA data, collected by different satellites. Mainly the data updated by the satellites aqua and terra are used. We collected the data from it to render the real time situation of the place. Since the latency period for this satellites is different i.e. ranges from 70 minutes to hours at end. So , we decided to update the data @one time per day.
The other data were taken from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) with aqua-terra satellites. One of the instruments such as Atmospheric infrared sounder(AIRS) in the aqua satellite that enables to check the Radiances, Temperature, Moisture Profiles, Precipitation, Dust, Clouds and Trace Gases.
