We have come up with a prototype of an application that helps individuals track their carbon footprint. It is important because the app reduces negligence cause by ignorance. For every action an user takes, the app tracks the consequences with the help of data set that is available with NASA regarding carbon footprint. The app is not just limited to tracking carbon footprint but monetizing it at the rates in which global carbon footprint trading happens. This helps the user sees the money he has saved for himself and the planet. By creating social networks and communities around the issue, it induces a gradual behavioral change in the long term. Hence, our tag line 'Long Live Earth, Long Live Life!'
We are a team of people who have come together from different parts of India and the one climatic change that we all could agree in the first go was the rise in temperature. When we looked at the major ways in which humans accelerate this change was with carbon emissions, hence we picked the topic. We went with the framework of problem statement - diagnosis - research - solution - prototyping - testing - expected result. We used MarvelApp, Figma, MS Office. As we had to collaborate virtually, we felt it was comparatively difficult to convey and convince our ideas. As we got to know each other better, it became easier to leverage each one's skills.
We used the data set related to Global Carbon Footprint from NASA. We are planning to run predictive analysis using machine learning using the parameters like latitude, longitude, topography, ocean currents, anthropogenic causes (Greenhouse Gas).
