We created this game to raise awareness surrounding the sustainability of our planet. We incorporated many current events and projects in order to provide relevant information as well as inspiration for the youth. Within our game, we continuously challenge the player to think critically, motivating them to consider what would be the best course of action to prolong our planet's natural resources and ecosystems. Through these interactive methods, we hope to infuse these lessons of sustainability within the everyday lives of today's youth.
Our team was inspired to develop 20.6.1 while researching global sustainability issues. We discovered that, all over the world, ecosystems and habitats were at risk due to manmade infrastructure and its effects. We made this game to educate our current generation as well as future generations how they can improve upon these environmental problems through innovative solutions. We developed our game using C# and Windows Forms, and collaborated on our code efficiently using GitHub. Moreover, we maintained regular communication through calls and messaging on Discord.
We used NASA resources through our research process to find the causes, and effects on various aspects. Our research was focused on six main aspects: space, renewable energy resources, amazon rainforest, arctic, great barrier reefs, and Tokyo city. While five aspects were directly affecting our planet's overall well-being, we also conducted research on Earth's outer space and satellites. Specifically, we looked into impact factors such as carbon dioxide emission concentrations, species population and habitat damage, nonrenewable and renewable energy sources, and water pollution statistics; all from using NASA provided resources to a number of websites and databases.
